🌿 Yarrow Topper
🌿 100% Pure Yarrow Botanical Topper
1 cup | Approx. 20g
100% Yarrow (Achillea millefolium)
A single-ingredient botanical forage with a distinctive natural aroma and fine, leafy texture. Sprinkle a little through your rabbit or guinea pig’s usual hay, or add it to a forage tray for an occasional sniff-and-search activity.
Yarrow is offered here as complementary forage for variety and enrichment. It is not a daily staple, a complete food or a treatment for health problems.

🐾 Suitable for
Healthy adult rabbits and guinea pigs only, in small occasional amounts.
Yarrow is listed as forage for rabbits and guinea pigs, but there is no established serving amount for this particular dried product. The portions below are cautious introductory suggestions.
🐰 Rabbits
Start with a few small fragments mixed through their usual hay. If tolerated, offer up to one small fingertip pinch once weekly.
🐹 Guinea pigs
Start with a few small fragments. If tolerated, offer up to one small fingertip pinch occasionally, no more than once weekly.
A fingertip pinch means a small amount held loosely between two fingertips. Keep the portion modest and count it as part of your pet’s total supplementary forage.
Rabbits and guinea pigs must always have unlimited suitable hay or grass and fresh drinking water. Introduce unfamiliar forage gradually and stop if you notice changes in eating, droppings or behaviour. Contact a vet promptly if your pet eats less or stops producing droppings.
⚠️ Important suitability and safety notes
I don’t currently recommend this yarrow product for chinchillas, degus, hamsters, gerbils, rats, mice, chipmunks, parakeets, chickens, giant African land snails or hedgehogs. I haven’t established species-specific safe portions for them, so please don’t transfer the rabbit or guinea pig guidance to another animal.
Do not feed to tortoises. Reptile plant guidance flags yarrow because of furocoumarins and a possible risk when the animal is exposed to UVB. I also don’t recommend it for green iguanas or other reptiles.
Do not offer yarrow to pregnant or nursing animals. Avoid it for animals with a known sensitivity to yarrow or related daisy-family plants. Ask your vet before offering it to a young, unwell or diet-restricted animal, or one taking medication.
This is a forage product, not a remedy. Don’t use it to try to manage poor appetite, digestive upset, pain or inflammation.
💧 Optional rehydration instructions
Yarrow can be offered dry or lightly softened:
-
Put one small serving in a clean dish.
-
Add a little clean water, just enough to dampen the forage.
-
Leave it for a few minutes to soften, then offer it straight away.
-
Remove any uneaten damp forage promptly.
Some thicker pieces may stay fibrous. Do not store or re-dry yarrow once it has been moistened.
📦 Storage
Store the dried forage sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Follow the best-before date on the packaging and discard if the forage becomes damp, musty or mouldy.
